Lay the jeans flat on a hard surface. Smooth out wrinkles without stretching the fabric.
1. Waist
Button the jeans fully.
Measure straight across the top waistband.
Multiply by 2 to get full waist circumference.
2. Rise
Front rise: From the crotch seam up to the top of the front waistband.
Back rise: From the crotch seam up to the top of the back waistband.
Baggy jeans often have a longer rise.
3. Hip
Measure straight across about 7–9 inches below the waistband (at the widest part).
Multiply by 2.
4. Thigh
Measure across the thigh about 1–2 inches below the crotch seam.
Multiply by 2.
5. Inseam
Measure from the crotch seam down to the bottom hem along the inside leg.
6. Outseam
Measure from the top of the waistband down to the bottom hem (outer leg).
7. Leg Opening
Measure straight across the bottom hem.
Multiply by 2.
Baggy styles usually have wider thigh and leg openings.
